The Power Of Belief in Strategic Thinking - Seeing is Believing, or is Believing Seeing?
When you believe in something, you are in a positive frame of mind and when you are in a positive frame of mind, you can do more, think better and plan better. This fact about the power of belief is most important in developing a strategic state of mind.
Why is Strategic Thinking described here as a state of mind? A state of mind is a throughout thing and is not merely an intellectual formula that can be rehashed. It includes both thinking skills and as human qualities. It is a basic requirement of charismatic leadership in which the personal quality of belief is a key feature. This is especially true in times of change.
There is overwhelming evidence that we are in times of accelerated change in all walks of life, where often the pace of change exceeds the ability to cope. The tendency in this is to try to hold on to old paradigms such as “ If I see it I will believe it”. This is where belief can make a very big difference. By adopting the new paradigm in mind and attitude of “Believing is Seeing” new opportunities are caused to appear that otherwise wouldn´t.
Here are some of the effects belief has upon strategic thinking:
Belief creates space and reveals options.
Belief is the bridge between plans and achievements.
Belief leads to vision, self-discipline and self-motivation.
Belief inspires others to believe and give it their all.
Belief is often the missing link on the way to new accomplishment.
Belief is not an intellectual property that needs to be explained academically.
Belief does not have to be understood in order to be activated!
This magical human quality has a huge power to cause things and it provides great advantage to those who allow it to be part of their life. So, when you think strategically don’t expect to be shown the future before you believe in it. Instead, believe it, gradually cause it to appear and then you’ll see it. This is different to Wishful Thinking.
And on a personal note, if you decide to believe in yourself…
You create space for you to grow into.
You build a bridge between you in the now and you in the future.
You develop a vision that shows you the way.
You become disciplined and motivated in a way that helps you to overcome obstacles.
You become a source of inspiration to yourself and others.
You become a very high achiever indeed.
Finally, here is a question for you to contemplate:
How many times did you believe you couldn’t do something and proved yourself right? Belief can work both ways, for you or against you.
You are the final decision maker of how your belief will be used.
